Inside the project

The world
we're building.

A weather-god simulation where changing the forecast changes everything. Bring sunshine, rain, wind and lightning to one small valley and watch every choice ripple through its farms, river and town.

Every fix has a consequence you can see coming. And Nimbus, the valley's Senior Atmospheric Compliance Officer, is taking notes.

A public build and release date have not been announced here. Follow the development journal for future updates.
How it plays

Weather powers.

Every fix has a consequence you can see coming.

  • Sunshine

    [1]

    Helps

    • Crops grow
    • Dries out floods
    • Burns off clouds

    Hurts

    • Too much = drought
    • Drought feeds wildfire
    “Try clouds. Shady, damp clouds.”
  • Rain

    [2]

    Helps

    • Waters the fields
    • Puts out fires

    Hurts

    • Saturated soil runs off
    • River floods low homes
“Perhaps ease up on the rain.”
  • Wind

    [3]

    Helps

    • Spins the turbines
    • Pushes storms away

    Hurts

    • Fans fire downwind
    • Rips fragile roofs
    “Hold onto your hats!”
  • Lightning

    [4]

    Helps

    • Hit the collector: charges the battery

    Hurts

    • Hit anything else: it catches fire
“That is what we call renewable smiting.”
  • Frogs

    event

    Helps

    • Eat the crop pests

    Hurts

    • Clog the roads
    • Short the transformer
“I am filing this under Acts of Frog.”

Nimbus character sheet: a white cloud with a red tie and clipboard, five expressions from skeptical to smug, and his calm, overcast and thunderous moods
Art sheet · Nimbus
Meet your supervisor

Nimbus.

Senior Atmospheric Compliance Officer.

  • One brow is always raised. He has questions.
  • His mood is the weather. His colour tracks the village's wellbeing, from calm to overcast to thunderous.
  • The clipboard never leaves his hand. It holds your performance review.
The Valley environment sheet: an ink-and-wash map of the diorama with the town center, frog pond, reservoir, windy highlands, farmland, river basin and wildwood labelled
Art sheet · The Valley
The map

The Valley.

One diorama where every region is connected.

Town Center
Dense, warm roofs. Every house is something you can lose.
River Basin
The river splits the valley: every flood call is town vs. farm.
Farmland
Fields you can read at a glance, wet or dry.
Wildwood
Fuel. Downwind of the farms, so wind choices matter.
Windy Highlands
Turbines and rocks. The lightning collector sits up here.
Reservoir
A buffer for the basin. Watch the level.
Frog Pond
A waterspout here means frogs are coming.
01

Shape the forecast

Sunshine, rain, wind and lightning, each with a job to do.

02

Watch the consequences

Every fix helps somewhere and hurts somewhere else.

03

Find the balance

Keep the village, the farms and Nimbus's clipboard happy.
